hi all !

First of all I want to thank you for such a wonderful release !

It is VERY fast - so fast so I can play Duke Nukem now on my AMD Athlon 1.6 GHz.

CPU Benchmarks according to Norton Utilities for DOS:
Intel 386DX-33 - score 35.9
Intel 486DX-33 - score 71.2
Intel Pentium-66 - score 211.4
DOSBox 0.70 on AMD Athlon XP 1.6 GHz - score jumps between 150 and 280 !

a real Pentium performance ! 😀 BRAVO !

My settings:
[cpu]
core=dynamic
cycles=max

The readme says:
At present, DOSBox running on a high-end machine will roughly be the equivalent of a 486 PC.

I think this needs to be changed to:
At present, DOSBox running on a high-end machine will roughly be the equivalent of the original Pentium PC.

NOTE: That current high-end machine is not the Athlon, but the Core 2.

Exactly. Synthetic perform doesn't mean a thing except that DosBox is performing well on that specific benchmark.

The DosBox readme will stay that way since it covers all machines. Wouldn't be very helpful when someone runs DosBox on their Athlon 1.6 and isn't getting 486 performance playing Quake.
