You have got dos compatability almost complete. Doing really good know on windows 3.1x compatiability now that runtime is supported and it supports windows 3.0 somehow but i don't know how it was gotten working and windows 3.0 was the last windows to support all previous windows applications. Windows 3.1 lacked some earlier windows support but the one thing missing is windows 98 compatiability. Get windows 98 compatiable and you get many more windows programs running that will refuse to run on xp or you can get windows 95 compatiable and still get a lot more windows programs running.

Dosbox is turning into doswinbox.

There is no goal for 9x compatibility. Not saying it will not happen, mabye it will mabye it won't. But 9x compatibility is not a DosBox goal as of yet.

Dosbox is supposed to support windows 3.0 but how did you get windows 3.0 running. Then what are the dosbox creators doing. Windows 3.1 and windows 3.0 are supported so that helps on running windows programs before 1995. Windows 3.0 can run all of the previous windows programs. Windows 3.1 lacked earlier windows support but with windows 3.1 and windows 3.0 and dos support almost perfect what else is their to do. Protected mode games finally run at good speed.

and there is always the possible upcoming feature of instant world peace through dosbox. I'd even pay for that 😀

Seriously, look at Dosfreak's signature and go to the Dosbox Wish List to see things people would like to have before Win9x support and world peace.

I guess making dosbox (look at the name:"DOS"... (!)) win9x compatible might cause significant regresses to its dos-compatibilty. Therefore: If it happens by accident, ok, but if not, so what.

P.S.: wd is right about this "subject thing".
