Both output methods work fine for me. Might be a driver limitation. I'm using a GeForce 7600GT with the latest ForceWare drivers.

I only tried 54. Will test the other one later, although I'd assume that works too.

55 works as defined in the code, but it should have 60 lines instead of 25 (according to the site I linked to previously). These really do need a smaller font 😀

Right. Looks very odd, though, the 1188x400 screens were fitted to a 4:3 aspect ratio back then.
