I hope this isn't covered in another topic..

I love DOSBox's built-in video recording/conversion feature, spitting out nice compact avi files, but I don't quite understand the relation it has to the codec (and I don't really understand codes in general, to tell the truth). Is there any way I can adjust the settings of the codec/DOSBox so that the video records at a higher quality, even if it means much larger file sizes?

There can be no higher video quality. The video captured is the same video you see on the screen.

Youtube doesn't like anything, but cut down the quality quite a bit so the videos won't take much bandwidth.
