Hi,

I've got an eeepc running ubuntu linux. Works great with dosbox + oldgames, recently tried to play old copy of tie fighter and was coming up as being 'registered' as a slow machine by install routine. Upped the cycles to 10000 and it then registered as a fast machine by install routine, yet game is very choppy. What am i doing wrong?

Thanks

thanks for the replies....

Doesn;t look like its running in svga (if i can remember back far enough as to what that looked like).

Do i just have to admit my eee's not up to the task with this game then?

Thanks

There should be a section somewhere on the Wiki about "Running Resource Demanding Games". It is a bit old, but read it anyway.

Yeah i did and even let it try as a 'slow' machine still very jumpy.

Is there anything i can do to get it to render the 3d parts better.

This machine after all can run compiz ok (advanced desktop effects). Heres my dosbox.conf

Thank you

[render]
core = dynamic
cycles = max

[autoexec]
mount c: /media/disk/dosgames

There is a Win95 version of Tie Fighter. Maybe you'll want to try that version using Wine...
