Hello,

First of all, I'd like to thank you for DosBOX! It's a great program, and is making so much progress lately!

So, let's get to the point of my post!

I'm using SuSE Linux 8.2, my soundcard is an SbLive 5.1 and I'm using the ALSA and emu10k1 drivers supplied by my distribution.
My PC is a 1.4 Athlon, with ~380Mb of DDR.

The point is, games play perfectly well, SFX sounds play ok, but I can't hear a thing of the MIDI sounds if set to mt32 and ALSA.

This is an extract of my dosbox.conf file:

[midi]
# Set midi output device,alsa,oss,win32,coreaudio,none
mpu401=true
device=alsa
config=

So, I don't know what I should put in the 'config' thing, and also don't know how to set dosbox to use the midi sequencer (/dev/sequencer).

Also, are there tools/keys to adjust the volumes (SFX/MIDI) from within DosBOX?

Thank you for your help!

PS: I'm using DosBOX CVS

i presume you compiled dosbox yourself

could take a look at the output of the ./configure script ?

There there will be noted if dosbox detected a valid alsa instalation

Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!

Well, ALSA is installed and detected correctly, as shown in the logfile below.

I don't know what could possibly be in cause, I'm really at loss, now 😕

Just thought I should mention that MT-32 MIDI won't sound right unless played on an actual MT-32. Even with MT-32 sounds it rarely works right because most games that supported the MT-32 uploaded new sounds. (the MT-32's was fully editable)
