Hi.
Ive got a problem that whenever I run a game through Dosbox the game view gets distorted.
What exactly happens is that the game gets shoved up into the top ritght corner and about 1/4 of the games view get hidde.
I run it in fullscren mode, and i have tried to change the resolution and colors but it oesen´t seem to help.

So i guess the game doesn´t matter.

Unless you tried every game that was ever made for DOS on DosBox...it matters. Don't presume, you may think it will speed things up, but it doesn't.

Your problem appears to be similar to this person's...

Recommend you either wait for the next DosBox release, or try it with VDMSound (watch out for EMS memory problems).

Edit: corrected horrible typos...

Did you try running it with VDMSound?

BTW, unless you have an extremely potent CPU, I recommend you change your KEEPSMALL setting to TRUE. Those 2x Windows will gobble up resources...

That really bothers me... They should be able to do hardware scaling of some kind. I guess SDL doesn't support it?

If I remember it correctly dosbox itself scales the image 2x
(i believe as sdl does that internal as well and we do it faster then sdl did)

How to ask questions the smart way!

I wasn't referring to scale2x, but rather the scaling done if you don't set keepsmall=false (maybe they're the same - I don't know because I always have keepsmall set to true). Also, the sound problems are a lot more irritating 😉 I'm almost ready to try the kX Project drivers (http://www.kxproject.com) to see if they run DOSBox better than the official Creative drivers.

Just wanted to update things: I tried the kX drivers and they don't have any of the sound problems in DOSBox that the Creative drivers had. DOSBox may be hard on the Creative drivers, but I blame Creative more for the resulting problems.

I.ve tried VMS but it tells med that I don´t have enough EMS to go around.
I have tried to change it to keepsmall=true but i still got the same problem.

Ummm... by the way, what is the CVS version?

You might have a motherboard-based EMS problem. Create a file named GO.BAT and edit it to contain the single command:

MEM /C >VDMSMEM.TXT

then run it with VDMSound (right-click and choose Run with VDMS), it should create a text file called VDMSMEM.TXT and report something like the following:
Conventional Memory :

Name Size in Decimal Size in Hex
------------- --------------------- -------------
MSDOS 13184 ( 12.9K) 3380
KBD 3296 ( 3.2K) CE0

FREE 112 ( 0.1K) 70
Paste your results here. You might end up having to shut off some motherboard devices in order to create more "Upper Memory".

I have tried to change it to keepsmall=true but i still got the same problem.

Then it's apparently not related to 2x eating up resources.

Ummm... by the way, what is the CVS version?

That is an unofficial release. Disregard it. Try the new 0.60 release instead.
