Why is it that dosbox only works in X ?
If i try to use it on the console, first it only lets me run dosbox as "root"! Then, when I run it the screen color goes all purple! The colors get all messed up and then it freezes!!!

If I run it in X everything runs fine... but slow!
I was trying to run it without X to increase performance! The X consumes way too much CPU! (when i was using dosbox in X i tried to run top to see the CPU resources and X all crazy consuming as much or more than dosbox!)

Help ?

Actually this concerns X and not dosbox.

but i've posted several tips in the other thread.

If you don't run X sdl tries a different video method.

wrong colors usually indicate a pallet with not enough colors or a bug in sdl. as dosbox just outputs a screen to sdl.

An other helpfull tip: try ctrl-f8 it decreases the amount of frames drawn by dosbox. so your load on will drop a little as well. (this is for when running under X)
