Salutations. I am new to DOS. All I knew how to do, and the only knowledge I had in the DOS days, was to run Math Blaster in probably 1995. Shame.

Oh wow. The only way I could get deceiving "progress" was to mount the .iso in Daemon Tools Lite, cd its virtual drive, and type jazz.

No wonder I could not get past the sound setup. Can't write to Daemon's disc drive. Oh damn..now, the first line I see when I run DOSBox, is setting to the Sound Blaster Clone. I suspected the Gravis is better for Jazz Jackrabbit..would like to change

I am stumped on how to run the .iso from my primary hard drive. Here's a short vid of some command attempts. Please assist

Hohk. I'll repost in gaming subforum..cheers

EDIT: Are you telling me I'm in the wrong subforum ? Or asking for some specs ?

All I really know is processor, graphics card, and amount of RAM.

Processor: AMD Sempron single core 2.3~GHz

Graphics Card: NVIDIA 6150SE

2 gigs of RAM (bare minimum).

Sound card is Realtek something..sorry I'm extremely inexperienced.

Windows 7 64-bit

It's DOSBox .74 also, the most recent

Huh? Just do what I tell you... 😉
There is a guides subforum and in that read the 60 seconds guide, follow it as closely as possible (it is a bit outdated in parts but not very much so).
THEN report back

Ah, I see the 60 second guide.

I'm still not sure if the game requires install or just runs off the disc. I believe it just runs off the disc.

If you see the 50 second video I uploaded, it seems I am looking at the .iso in DOSBox and can't use it whatsoever.

I DID when I tried Daemon Tools Lite's virtual drive, but it could not write there, preventing me from passing sound setup

EDIT: g "g:\" -t cdrom seems to work out better. Now it asks where I should copy file(s). And it says I'll need 100k of space.

My primary drive has 7 gigs remaining. And DOSBox is saying it's not enough

I even tried my slave drive. 741 gigs remain. Same error

Here's a half minute. The guide doesn't provide solution for "Not enough free space". I'm stunned

Yes I also tried G:\, the emulated drive from Daemon, and same error

Just watched your video...
Good luck in finding help. Ovbviously you don't understand the part about following the guide...
If you did the problem would go away...

Your assumption that a cd rom game doesn't need a hard drive is wrong, so you need to mount a folder as a hard drive. IF that still fails with too few space THEN look up the readme of dosbox.
But seriously just read and FOLLOW the guide.
Can't believe how often I needed to write this...

I made a copy of the .conf and specified autoexec to run upon launching DOSBox. I'm looking at this in Notepad:

[autoexec]
mount c "c:\roms\dosbox"
mount d "g:\" -t cdrom

And I created a DOSBox shortcut to my custom .conf too. So I run it, and it mounts c:\ but does not mount cdrom as autoexec suggests it to. Result:

Z:\>MOUNT C "C:\ROMS\DOSBox"
Drive C is mounted as local directory C:\ROMS\DOSBox

Z:\>C:

C:\>JAZZJ.CONF
Illegal command: JAZZJ.CONF.

C:\>

The 60 second guide says a DOSBox shortcut such as:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74\DOSBox.exe" -userconf "C:\ROMS\DOSBox\jazzj.conf"

would benefit.

And damn. I think there's one too many quotation marks..perhaps I screwed that shortcut up somewhere

leileilol, wow. So -userconf I just had to change to be -conf only.

Now, to play it, I just have to type d:, push Enter, jazz, push Enter. Anything else I can do to eliminate that ?
