Every time I start DOSBox, I get:

MIXER:Can't open audio: DirectSoundCreate: Invalid parameter , running in nosound mode.

The MIDI object starts up fine, though. Just the DA fails.

Anyone know why this could be?

do you have direct X installed ?
if you do which version ?

Do games/applications in general work with direct X and your soundcard ?
