The following are things that should be in your help request:

Motherboard
ACPI x64-based PC
Processor type and speed
Intel Core i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHZ 3.40GHZ
Amount and type of RAM
8.00GB
Video board w/ RAM amount and type
NVidia GeForce GTX 760
Sound board
NVidia High Definition Audio
NVidia Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)
Realtek High Definition Audio
Operating system
Windows &x64
Game name (and version, if applicable)
Interplay's 10 Year Anthology:
BardsTale, BattleChess, Castles, DragonWars, LordOfTheRings, Mindshadow, OutOfThisWorld,

StarTreck25thAnniversary, TassTimesInToneTown, Wasteland.
I did successfully:
Z:\Mount E E:\
Z:\Mount O O:\ -t cdrom
E:\ TESTDRIV>
E:\ TESTDRIV>TDCGA.EXE
The E drive is where I have DOSBOX, and the game folders.
The O drive is my DVD drive.
Now when I try:
Z:\ O: run wl.exe
Z:\ run wl.exe
Z:\ setup wl.exe
Z:\ install wl.exe
E:\ GAMES\DOS\run wl.exe
E:\ GAMES\DOS\setup wl.exe
E:\ GAMES\DOS\install wl.exe
I get, "Illegal command: run."
I get this for: run, setup, and install.
wl.exe is the Wasteland install file.
Is there another command I should use, instead of: run, setup, and install?
Is there another method I should use to install the above listed games?

DOSBox Help,

I have successfully done:
Z:\>mount E E:\Games\DOS\
Z:\>MOUNT O O:\ -t cdrom
E:\>TESTDRIV>tdcga.exe
E: is the drive that all of these game reside on
O: is my DVD Drive.

These are in Interplay's 10 Year Anthology Classic Collection:
On my Hard Drive they are located on E:\Games\DOS.
BardsTale, BattleChess, Castles, DragonWars, Lord of the Rings, Mindshadow, Out of this World, StarTreck 25th Anniversary, Tass Times in Tone Town, and Wasteland.

All of the above game are categorized as such:
E:\Games\DOS\BardsTale
E:\Games\DOS\BattleChess
E:\Games\DOS\Castles
E:\Games\DOS\DragonWars
E:\Games\DOS\LordOfTheRings
E:\Games\DOS\Mindshadow
E:\Games\DOS\OutOfThisWorld
E:\Games\DOS\StarTreck25thAnniversary
E:\Games\DOS\TassTimesInToneTown
E:\Games\DOS\Wasteland

BardsTale
BARD.EXE
BTEDIT.EXE
SETUP.EXE

BattleChess
CHESS.EXE

Castles
CASINT.EXE
CASTLES.BAT
CASTLES1.EXE

DragonWars
DRAGON.COM
DWTRAN.COM

Lord of the Rings
LORD.EXE
SETUP.EXE

Mindshadow
MIND.EXE

Out of this World
WORLD.EXE
SETUP.EXE

StarTreck 25th Anniversary
STARTREK.EXE
SETUP.EXE

Tass Times in Tone Town
AH.EXE
TASS.EXE

Wasteland
WL.EXE

When I Mount E: \Games\DOS
“Drive E already mounted to local directory E:\Games\DOS\”
When ever I do cd \Games
I get, “Unable to change to: Games“
When ever I do cd \dos
I get, “Unable to change to: dos“
When ever I do cd \Games\dos
I get, “Unable to change to: Games\DOS“

E:\>cd \Games
I get, “The Directory has to exist.”
When I do E:\Mount E:\Games.
I get, “The Directory has to exist.”
When I do E:\Mount E:\DOS.
I get, “The Directory has to exist.”

If it is, “already mounted to local directory E:\Games\DOS\” then why do I get, “The Directory has to exist?”

What do I need to do to setup, install, or run these games?

Specifically, this guide:
60 seconds guide to getting your game to run in DOSBox

Hint 1: Don't mount things as "E" and "O". Use "C" and "D". It doesn't matter what the actual drives on your system are.
Hint 2: you need to type C: (that's the letter C, followed by a colon, and then the Enter key) after you use "mount c e:\whatever".

Jorpho:
Hint 1: Don't mount things as "E" and "O". Use "C" and "D". It doesn't matter what the actual drives on your system are.
Hint 2: you need to type C: (that's the letter C, followed by a colon, and then the Enter key) after you use "mount c e:\whatever"

I tried:
Z:\>Mount E E:\Games\DOS
Drive E is mounted as local directory E:\Games\DOS
Z:\>Mount O O: -t cdrom

Drive E is mounted as CDRom O:\

In the details I should have left out dates and times.
WL.exe is the instal or setup program for Wasteland.

SKARDAVNELNATE, how can you say, "I don't think he's actually reading any of our replies."
When I did try the above?

Notice, in part:
Z:\>Mount E E:\Games\DOS

ok, I'm invoking my moderator rights now. Please read the following carefully:

Unless you are reading the 60 seconds guide AND follow it I'm closing the next post that shows how little you read what we post.
hint:

If you get stuck with the 60 seconds guide, please post at what step of the guide you can't go on and we can help. At the moment your posts show how little you read of what we wrote.
For example, how can you write:

you are still mounting as E and O don't do that,

Congratulations, you have demonstrated a modicum of reading comprehension. I THINK YOU STILL NEED TO READ THE GUIDE, HOWEVER.

Change the first line to "mount c e:\" or "mount c e:\games".

Running a game
Z:\>MOUNT C C:\OLDGAMES
Drive C mounted as local directory C:\OLDGAMES\

To dissect the above:

* MOUNT: Tells the program to mount a directory
* C: Tells the program what you want your new drive to be called (leaving it as C: is fine)
* C:\OLDGAMES: This is the directory I want to set as the new drive for DOSBox, because all my games are in it. If you created a different directory, write in the directory you created.
(Note: If you want to mount a CD-ROM instead of a folder, type this:

NOTE: "If you created a different directory, write in the directory you created."
Thus: \Games\DOS\

so you can copy and paste. Can you also understand what is happening?

We cannot help you when you just copy/paste and no more information...

DOSBox cannot understand long file names on a mounted drive. If you have a directory like "Wasteland", which is 9 characters long, you have to rename it to something shorter than 8 characters, like "WL". (You can also use its short name, which is the first six characters followed by "~1", in this case "wastel~1".) If you had installed the games correctly LIKE IT SAYS IN THE GUIDE I do not think you would have this problem.

Afterwards you should be able to finish off what you were doing before.

Z:\>Mount C E\Games\DOS
Drive C is mounted as local directory E\Games\DOS\
Z:\>Mount D O:\ -t cdrom
MSCDEX installed.
Drive D is mounted as CDRom O:\

Z:\>C:
C:\>cd WL
C:\WL>WL.exe

Jorpho,

I did:
Z:\>Mount C E\Games\DOS
Drive C is mounted as local directory E\Games\DOS\

Z:\>Mount D O:\ -t cdrom
I copy and pasted the "Wasteland" directory and named the copy as "WL."

I deleted all of the default characters and created my own.

MSCDEX installed.
Drive D is mounted as CDRom O:\

Thank you!

Now sure how long you spent on trying to get Wasteland to work.

There's a new version of the original here for $5.99: http://www.gog.com/game/wasteland_the_classic_original

Hopefully though the time spent trying to get it to work was valuable info for future games.

There are frontends to make things easier but you should really know what's going on behind the scenes in DOSBox before using them.

We aren't being spiteful when we tell you to follow the guide. It's recommended to use those drive letters because alot of DOS games expect those driver letters.

So if you use any other drive than C: for your hard drive and the game expects C: then there could be a problem.
The same goes for your CD drive. If you use O: instead of D: then you may have a problem.

Yes sometimes you can get away with it just like driving down the wrong side of the street.......
