Success! Disabled all sounds made it work! Now I have to figure out how to get it to work with the sound.

Try setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER to waveout. (also may help to reinstall the audio driver in Windows)
When I set the audiodriver to waveout it says " MIXER: Got different values from SDL: Freq 44100, blocksize 11028". and crashes.. I'm trying to find out which driver I need to try to reinstall.
I notice that you have an Audigy. What drivers do you have installed? Are you using a 3rd party ASIO driver?
maybe set nosound=true on the configuration file. to see if that solves the crashing.
(and set mpu401=none as well)

How to ask questions the smart way!

Oops, I didn't even notice my sig was my old PC rig.... I have Realtek one now. 😊

Nope, that didn't do anything, but something has changed because now when it crashes, I can't really see the status window, when I move it the part that was under the DOSBox window is just a white block.
Are you seeing anything in the stderr.txt now?
Unfortunately, it's still and empty file.
what does the eventlog say now ?

It seems to be the same error as before.
That would seem to implicate your audio driver. Have you tried updating it?
I did that yesterday. 😐
in windows device manager, what driver/devices that listed that might be related to audio ?

Something called High Definition Driver (hdaudbud.sys) and something called High Definition Audio Device, which I assume is my Realtek audio device?
Are you running anything else in the background that might be trying to use your audio device? Some sort of VOIP application, for instance?
I don't have any VOIP programs, just in case, I closed most of my programs except my antivirus, which I already tried before, it still didn't work.
I do not have Win8, so this is just a shot in the dark, but can you select a different playback device in the control panel?
I only have Win 7 and and one device, and I have to disable all related to it, even if it's not in use, like S/PDIF, to get DOSBox to work.
Tested any other SDL 1.2 application by chance?
I'm not sure, it's seems I have SLD 2.0 games according to the SDL site, but I can't find any information on anything made with SDL 1.2.
