Daemon tools 3.47 (D-Tools for 95b or higher) will mount an ISO image inside a patched DOSBox/9x, but the guest OS will freeze if a cue/bin image is mounted. This means that ISO formatted data files may be mounted, but not CD audio via the cue/bin format. A cue/bin pair stores the audio track positions in a cue sheet file, while the bin file has the data and audio information (typically in CD-DA format, commonly called redbook audio). However, it is possible to mount CD audio via an NRG image in D-Tools.

Likewise, Nero 5.5.10.20 Burning Rom software will install in a patched DOSBox/95b/98 **. Included with Nero5 is a setup package for Image Drive, a mounting tool which supports the NRG format (and therefore CD audio). After installation, the main Nero5 software may be removed separately from the Image Drive component.

One way to make an NRG image is to backup the CD (data and audio) to an NRG file by way of Nero Burning Rom for Windows (for example, Nero 6.6.0.6 for the older Windows NT class systems; also, a recent trial version may work from the Nero web site). Next, copy the NRG image file to the DOSBox disk image and mount it via D-Tools or Image Drive. Install the game and it should have CD audio playback. Confirmed it is working with Jedi Knight/9x. These two methods also allow one to eject and mount another CD.

Neither D-Tools nor Image Drive should be coupled with the IDE patch (DOSBox-X). Also, the above methods will only work on 95b or higher -- since they both depend on the USB supplement update. 98se should have all necessary updates to install Nero5 or D-Tools. However, 95b requires the following:
^D-Tools specific: Installer 2.0 patch (InstMsiA.exe)
^Nero5 and possibly for D-Tools: IE4 (ignore the page fault error at the end; also, remove "pentium pro to pci bridge" device in safe mode)
^Both: USB supplement update
^Nero5: comctl32 update (50comupd.exe)
^Both: add a device via "Add New Hardware", Microsoft MCI CD Audio Device.

** Nero working in DOSBox was first noted by "OSH".
