I was wondering how DOSBox saves programs that are installed. Say for example I was to run a DOS installer, would the DOSBox program be altered or would the drive Z: contain the files? Where is Drive Z located, is it in a folder?

If I were to use old dos apps such as mscdex or edit.com, would they work?

Finally, could I actually install Windows 3.1 under DOSBox?

I checked the faq and there was nothing. Thanks in advance!

Mscdex is not needed. DosBox emulates it or something similar (well, at least the games can't tell the diference 😀)
edit.com works.

This was talked about some time ago, and it didn't run then. I doubt it runs now.
