I remember in the past there was a new DOSBox release each year.
Now it's a long time since there was another new release.
Can I ask why?
I would also like to ask what new features of DOSBox you're working on (in human language, I'm not a programmer 😊 )

I personally think it's time for a release, (I've seen a few, it's been fixed in SVN posts), but it's up to the developers to decide when the time is right. This question has been asked lots of times already, just do a search and you can see some other answers.
It's been a long time because:
It's a program made as a hobby not a profession.
The patches\changes for the next version of dosbox require time.
DOSBox game compatibility is very high so no real need seen for frequent releases especially since they are plenty of SVN versions out there.
You can ask what the features will be but I think you'll have to wait.
The nice thing about long releases is that the compatibility list has plenty of time to get fleshed out for each version:
