My Pentium 200 mmx DOSBox results: 0.0 (115626.7s) / 0.8 (1275.9s)
I expected 320x200 also running for hours, but it was surprisingly fast in comparison. Maybe DOSBox's VESA BIOS really is too slow for the emulated CPU speed.

DOS-PC: DFI k6bv3+, Pentium 200mmx, 64 MB RAM, Terratec Maestro 32 sound card, Roland MT-32 + SC-155, Winner 2000 AVI 2MB, Voodoo 1, Win98SE
Windows PC: GigaByte GA-MA790GPT, Phenom II X4 905e, 12 GB RAM, M-Audio Delta 44, NVidia 1060 6 GB, Win7 pro x64

P3 looks have larger speed difference between VGA and SVGA modes than P4 and later. P, P2 may have it more than P3. But the difference in 90 times for 7.5 times more pixels is... I have no words. The code is optimized for P3 at least, but other hardware besides CPU may affect this too, some "bottle neck".

Thanks for P200 data.
Its Speed Test results would be interesting to see later too.

My other Phenom 320x200 results:

Thanks. I'll take results of WinXP-32 as fastest.

Athlon XP 2600+ is still interesting too. We have no any of this series.

Mobile P166 MMX.
You are welcome to do 2 days testing Quake's run in any time.
Based on Quake results desktop P200 MMX emulates ~386 20 MHz. Your notebook can give emulation speed of 386 16 MHz and hence to run most games of 1980s. You may check it quickly by Speed Test.

My Athlon XP 2600+ results:
Windows 2000 320x200: 39.1, 39.8, 36.8
Linux Mint 17.2 native DOSBox: 27.2, 27.4, 25.3
Linux Mint 17.2 DOSBox in Wine: 15.6, 15.7, 13.6
With Wine, the framerate seems much more variable than all other tests for some reason.

Booted a DOS 7.1 CD and started Quake from a FAT32 harddisk partition:
18.0, 18.6, 18.0 / 229.3, 228.5, 226.8
It's an nVidia 6600 PCI model. The VESA BIOS seems ridiculously slow here. Not much faster than in DOSBox. 😳

Wich Athlon XP 2600+? CPU-Z may be used to check.

18.0, 18.6, 18.0 / 229.3, 228.5, 226.8

SVGA results are too incorrect. if mtrrlfbe was used, then video card is bad for this

Is Linux Mint at XP2600 - 32 bit?

Yes. It is a 32 bit cpu after all. 😉

Data for 320x200 is obligate too according to current measure procedure, as viewsize 120.
Xeon E5-1650 is more interesting as exotic.

DOSBox SVN r3938
ASUS X200LA laptop
Core i3-4010u 1.7GHz 4GB RAM, Intel HD 4400
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS/Kernel 3.19.0-30 x86_64

cmdline: quake -nocdaudio +vid_mode 13 +viewsize 100 +timedemo {demo}
Demo1: 24.4, 24.5, 24.5
Demo2: 27.4, 27.1, 27.5
Demo3: 24.2, 24.2, 24.3

You can also run GLQuake within DOSBox/Win98 with 3Dfx Voodoo emulation to get better graphics and performance.

320x200 + viewsize 120 = 105.4 fps

I don't have the xeon at hand currently, I will post results later. It is not that exotic anyway, I expect fps to be very similar to this:
Intel Core i7 3930K 4.2 GHz (Win7-64): 47, 55, 49 / 159, 162, 150

Thanks. Was viewsize 120 used for 800x600? If not, then I may interpolate fps or you may remeasure.
Single core mode turbo for i7-2760QM is 3.5 GHz. Is the CPU downclocked, for example because of energy economy mode? Or by unkown reason CPU-Z just showed this under the load in DOSBox? I may interpolate results to 3.5 GHz also, but it's better get them at full CPU performance.

Ok, time waits. Xeon should be close, but is interesting anyway.
I hope you'll find the possibility and interest to measure speed on some of your retro CPUs in Speed Test with DOSBox, in case systems with them are gatherd and in working condition. Games befor 1995 used FPU not much, so results in Speed Test inside DOSBox are closer to performance in them, while emulation of games like Quake is too hard for anything befor P4.
