Hi guys. When I try to run dos box from the start menu programs, dosbox starts up, then suddenly exits. I've read the documentation but I still can't even get dosbox to actually do anything. I have a pentium 4. 2.1ghz machine, windows 98se soundblaster live platinum... Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? this is really annoying
Launch it from cmd.exe instead. You will be able to see any appearing error messages this way. 😁
I dont have anything called cmd.exe on my machine. any other ideas? I have windows 98se
try command.com instead.

I'm suddenly having the same problem on my WinXP machine. It used to work just fine, in case you're wondering. I try to start it, and it immediatly exits with an error message that I've been able to deduce by repeatedly running the program. The message says:
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
Any ideas as to what is causing this, and more importantly, how to fix it?
Not sure... did you upgrade DOSBox recently? I think 0.61 requires an OpenGL compatible card, otherwise the graphics library used by DOSBox (SDL) will generate an error (the parachute thingy). IIRC, a modified version of DOSBox that do not require OpenGL is on the way.
