Hey all,

Hoping you guys can help here.

We have some old accounting software "Prolaw v6" that has been around since the 90's. We can get it to run on a windows 2000 machine, and some XP machines, but not all (I haven't been able to figure out the differences between the machines to make it work/not work). Anyway..

We've upgraded all computers to Windows 7 x64 and now cannot run this program. I've tried using DosBox, as thats been successful with another program we have.. but I can't get it to work.

Here is a screenshot of what happens: https://snag.gy/ZzTHjb.jpg (DOSBox just "stops", never get the Initials prompt, cursor just blinks at bottom)
Here is a screenshot of what SHOULD happen: https://snag.gy/dimxl2.jpg

On my XP x32 machine, i can run it fine via launching Prolaw.bat from command prompt. If I try doing the same thing with DOSBox, the problem arises. I initially thought it was a Win7x64 thing, but it won't even run in DOSBox on XP, so maybe if we figure that out.. it'll work with the same DosBox settings on Win7?

Thanks in advance, let me know what more I can provide, if needed.

Umm, VM?

DOSBox isn't meant for DOS applications. It's meant to run DOS games. You could try VDOS (which is like DOSBox for applications), but I'd recommend spinning up a VM in something like VirtualBox and trying FreeDOS for the OS (or MS-DOS 6.22 if you own a license).

This is obviously a Clipper application (as per the SET CLIPPER line). There have been a lot of people trying to run such apps in DOSBox. Google around and you will probably find relevant information in this forum or elsewhere.
