Ok, I set up a DOS 6.22 machine, and installed BARIS. This time it did pull up the modem-dial option, and it even dialed out...so maybe the issue is something Windows-related--like the way the game accesses the modem doesn't jibe with DOSBox or something.

And h-a-l is right; it's formatted for US 10-digit phone numbers only, which is one digit shy of a full IP address.

Are the "-" necessary? Do these count as extra characters? (I'm sure you already tried this).

Hmmm, might have to setup a VPN for this game to use smaller IP addresses.....or I wonder if dosbox could be coded to offer the option of tacking on an extra digit to the phone number for this game?

Another idea would be to have a section in the config file in which the user can define virtual phone numbers and corresponding IP addresses that they should map to.
