Old gameports only supported 2 joysticks with 2 buttons each. Some joysticks, like the Gravis Gamepad, had 4 buttons by also using the 2 buttons of the other one.
Is there a way to setup dosbox to support this?
If not, feature request 😀
The windows version does recognise the 4-button gamepad configured in windows xp (I'm using an original Gravis Gamepad) but in the game (WWF Werste Mania) only responds to 2.

I have a Gravis PC GamePad (the original) in my game port on a Windows 2000 system.
(Like fossil said, this pad comes from a 2 button joystick time, and simply uses the other (not really attached) joystick's 2 buttons to fake 2 more of its own.)
Though the DOSBox' pop-under screen (whatever it's called) shows support for 2 axes and 4 buttons, my Commander Keen games don't seem to recognise them.

I did fiddle around with the little sliders, but no combination works.
In later versions of the game there's the option for the game to select a Gravis game pad, but selecting that means you immediately have to bind buttons to functions.
Red and blue work, but the others don't.
Pressing 2 buttons at the same time got me a 3rd button (yellow), but I can't get green to work.

Does anybody have any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Actually, never mind! 😀
I Google'd for Joy2Key earlier and soon realised it wasn't a Windows programme, but there's something called JoyToKey that I just found that does the trick.

Hmmm, now I'm slightly unhappy again.
I got myself a Gravis Xterminator Force, and am running the http://www.immersion.com/gaming/ trial to add force feedback to my old games.
This can among other things add a force feedback effect to a button press.

Problem of course is, that if I use either Joy2Key or the software that comes with the game pad (Gravis Xperience), the button basically turns into the keyboard button.
The TouchWare Gaming software doesn't recognise the game pad button as a game pad/joystick button anymore, so I can't add a force feedback effect to it.

So, I hope DOSBox will get 4 button support working in the next version.
If actually I'm missing something, and somebody knows the solution for my problem, please do tell!
(That would call for a thread in the other forum I realise.)
Thanks!
