Completely new user so pardon my ignorance.

In attempting to edit the conf file I had to tell my computer to open it as a notepad file (because windows didnt recognize it) and now I'm afriad because the type is changed DOSBox isnt recognizing it. Exactly how does the file name have to appear in order for it to work? (I'm not getting an error telling me it can't find the file, I just can't get the changes I made to take effect so I thought maybe the file type was the problem.)
