Motherboard: not sure how to find that out.
Processor type and speed: Pentium 4 1.8 GHz
Amount and type of RAM: 512MB PC800 RDRAM
Operating system: Windows XP Professional
Description of problem:
😕 I've been trying to install dosbox in order to run Elderscrolls: Arena, but everytime I run the installer (DOSBox0.60-win32-installer.exe, DOSBox0.61-win32-installer.exe, or DOSBox0.61-win32-installer.exe) it give me this message: The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0540 IP:0119 OP:65 63 74 20 61 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

If I choose close, it closes. If I choose ignore, it says the same, except IP:011a OP:63 74 20 61 20. If I choose ignore again, it closes.

WTF is going on?

(And no, I haven't read the README file, because I can't until it installs it)

either something corrupts your downloads or you have a seriously broken windows installation.

I've been getting the different versions from here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dosbox
is there another place to get them?

And how am I supposed to install it? Just double-click on the file, or do I actually have to start in the DOS prompt or one of those other start-up options?

Disable all security and pop up blockers, and download. Fixed it for me. The file should be 822k (not 16k or something small like that - that is caused by security)

Never woulda guessed getright was causing the problem.
