No, it does not as far as now. Only way to get 256 colors was a CANADACOW's patch supporting a different graphic card (so never integrated into CVS).
I do not know about anything else.

Canadacow's latest dosbox version still has 640x480 256 colours support for windows.

Yes, I know about it. CANADACOW uses for his MT-32 builds sources which he has currently at home (including some modifications he made during his work on DOSBOX - which means also including the above mentioned patch).

But this is not what I would call an officiall support in DOSBOX (wou will not get 256 colors in any officiall DOSBOX release up to now and it will not be in 0.63).

Are there any plans to merge in CANDACOWs work in the future. I realize it is considered an unstable branch for the moment. I suppose it is more or less up to candacow to submit his work as a patch.
