Quicker disk write?

Is it possible to change the delay that DOSBox has from receiving a file disk write to actually writing the file on disk. I try to transfer information from a program running in DOSBox to a program running in XP. It looks to me that there is a delay in DOSBox for 0.5 to 3 s on updating the real file system.
