I have a joystick with some odd standard button configuration, which makes unconfortable playing without remapping and it can't be done at level driver so it must be done at software level.
So the question is, Dosbox allow to change default buttons?

There was a patch some time ago that added a lot of joystick functionality. Button mapping, Thrustmaster Pro emulation, speed settings, etc...I think overall it was a great job done by ih8registrations but there were some problems that made it unpopular. Most notably, both virtual joysticks were enabled by default and there was no way to turn them off. Also, some people didn't like the mapper and would rather use standard 2 button as default. I think with some tweaks (a way to turn off joystick emulation in config file, defaults set at standard 2 button 2 axis joystick) it would be a great addition to dosbox. Unfortunately the original author did not develop it further and nobody else picked it up...
