Open up a terminal

cd to the directory with the games

and run dosbox ./

Heres an example, in this case I am playing Commander Keen

[rob@Oneniisama rob]$
[rob@Oneniisama rob]$ cd /Oneniisama/Keen/
[rob@Oneniisama Keen]$
[rob@Oneniisama Keen]$ dosbox ./

This opens up the dosbox with the current folder as the root directory for dosbox.
No need to switch folders in dosbox now 😀

then in the dosbox window

It will say that it mounted C as the local directory and will have a prompt flashing with C

Doing a dir /w *.exe shows me all the exe files in that folder. I see my Keen1.exe file, and i simple type

Keen1.exe

then the game opens up.

Hopefully someone will made this a sticky message and move this into the tutorial section. This makes it much easier to use dosbox.

Whiskers, what happens if you do this:

 [rob@Oneniisama rob]$ dosbox /Oneniisama/Keen/

or this:

 [rob@Oneniisama rob]$ dosbox /Oneniisama/Keen/Keen1.exe

[rob@Oneniisama rob]$ dosbox /Oneniisama/Keen/

has the same effect of doing this

[rob@Oneniisama rob]$
[rob@Oneniisama rob]$ cd /Oneniisama/Keen/
[rob@Oneniisama Keen]$
[rob@Oneniisama Keen]$ dosbox ./

Doing this

[rob@Oneniisama rob]$ dosbox /Oneniisama/Keen/Keen1.exe
gets you to the proper directory, then launched the dosbox and the Keen game.

Either way, its a much simplier solution than having to navigate around with dosbox 😀
