HI @ all,
first I want to thank the developers of dosbox!!! I can play again "Z"! That's wunderful.

But I have still a problem: when I start dosbox in fullscreenmode I have still only a small area with dosbox and there is a huge black area around it!

Here is my dosbox.conf:

fullscreen=true
fulldouble=true
fullfixed=true
fullresolution=1024x768
output=surface
hwscale=1.00
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt

The output must be surface otherwise the result isn't acceptable!

OK i hope you can help me

render section has some scalers

too bad overlay isn't good for you as then you could have used
hwscale=....

I've tried everything that I could find to get DOSBox in true full screen mode instead of the wide screen mode to no success. Is there a way to get it to truly take up the entire screen? If so, how?

These are the config settings, if they might be helpful:

fullscreen=true
fulldouble=false
fullfixed=false
fullresolution=1024x768
output=surface
hwscale=1.00
autolock=true
sensitivity=250
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt

BTW, I've tried various other settings as well.

Thanks. 😀

I used the controls on the monitor to adjust the v. size. That finally forced a true full screen. Fortunately, it did not mess with my typical Windows settings. I do the very same thing with misbehaving Win games. I am fortunate to have such an easily adjusted monitor. I can have independent settings for each and every app if I wish.

I changed numerous settings within the DOSBox config file to no success, btw.

???

With DOSBox 0.63 and a default configuration:

fullscreen=false fulldouble=false fullfixed=false fullresolution=1024x768 output=surface hwscale=1.00 autolock=true sensitivity= […]
Show full quote

fullscreen=false
fulldouble=false
fullfixed=false
fullresolution=1024x768
output=surface
hwscale=1.00
autolock=true
sensitivity=100
waitonerror=true
priority=higher,normal
mapperfile=mapper.txt

I can get DOSBox to run in fullscreen using these commands:

C:\Program Files\DOSBox> set DOSBOX_SDL_FULLSCREEN=true

C:\Program Files\DOSBox> dosbox

I assume, that if the fullscreen variable is set in the configuration file instead of as an environment variable, it will work just as well?

For me, it wasn't truly full screen, it was closer to a wide-screen make-shift full screen. However, when I used my monitor's controls, I expanded the v. size and it, of course, went full screen. Ironically, with this game, anyway (Master of Magic), total full screen didn't quite look right. So I went back to the wide screen that DOSBox used as full screen. I have a feeling it may have been designed as such.

I have a hunch the same will apply to X-Com and Betrayal at Krondor, the other two games I'm playing via DOSBox. BTW, they all play just like they did in DOS. 😀
