I was wondering if DOSBox supported my 6 button gamepad or not. So far I have only got it to work with two buttons. Some games use more buttons than that, so is there a way to configure DOSBox to work with my gamepad?

dos only supported 2 buttons.
(in principal it could steal 2 from an unused joystick)

Indeed. I like to think of DOS as supporting 4 analog axes and 4 buttons (or, 4 analog and 4 digital inputs). Of course, digital joysticks were around before Windows (Gravis GrIP and all those flight sticks with hat controls for example). I just recently upgraded from a joystick port Gravis Gamepad Pro to a Logitech PSX-alike USB game pad.

It would be cool if DOSBox would allow the mapping of extra buttons to keyboard keys, and extra axes to something else like mouse control. Maybe it already does this - I haven't played with joysticks in DOSBox yet.
