Ok, I know this question as allready been ask,
I have search the forum,
I have read the readme file,
I have mount the directory correctly,
I'm aware of long file name limitation of DOS, but...

I still got the Unable to change to: games problem!

I'm under WinXP, using DosBox 0.63 and I want to run Fantasy General.

So I'll be very happy if someone here can help me fix this problem...

😢

I don't have enough information to guess the solution to your problem. I need to know the following:

  • Post your dosbox.conf
  • What is the real drive letter and path of your directory on your real hard drive?
  • What exactly are you typing to mount your directory?
  • What exactly are you typing to change to your directory?

Here's an example of how I do it in case it helps:

  1. I have a folder on my D: drive called oldgames, so its path is D:\oldgames
  2. After I start DOSBox, I type mount c d:\oldgames. DOSBox responds with Drive C mounted as local directory d:\oldgames\
  3. I then type c: and hit enter to change to the virtual C: drive in DOSBox (which is really D:\oldgames on my real hard drive). DOSBox responds by changing the prompt from Z:\> to C:\>
  4. I'm now already in my oldgames directory, but all my games are in subdirectories. If for example I want to play Dune 2, which is in the dune2 directory (c:\dune2 in DOSBox and d:\oldgames\dune2 on my real hard drive), I would type cd dune2. DOSBox responds by changing the prompt to C:\DUNE2>
