Well firstly my keyboard layout is U.S. so the readme file is somewhat inaccurate when it says "only occurs if your keyboard layout isn't U.S."
Aside from that I don't know *how* to do any of the other solutions suggested, for example all the help files I've followed just lead me to a blank page with ?? in it when I try to find out how to use the keymapper.
Your post is rather confusing:
a) You say that you have US-keyboard - so what does happen when trying to write : there?

???? Could you explain what do you mean? Usage of keymapper is described even in README ... What kind of help pages did not work for you?
c) Details about your system would be also helpful.
