Beta D/l here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/default.mspx

If anyone has a 64bit processor and is previewing XP 64 bit pro, is DosBox able to run in such a setup? I understand that 16bit dos programs will not work in xp64 but what if it were being emulated through a 32bit program?

DOSBox seems to run much more efficiently in Windows XP x64 than in 32 bit XP on my Opteron box. I have had results of about a third less CPU utilization in 64 bit windows vs. 32 bit for the same game and same settings. DOSBox is the best hope for 64 bit Windows users that love our old 16 bit games. When Windows 3x is fully supported in DOSBox, We can have our 16 bit Windows games, too.

Unfortunately, someone still will need to create some sort of wrapper program for 16-bit installers, since a lot of 32-bit programs were still using the old 16-bit InstallShield. 😒

Yes, it’s my fault.
