Is there a way to make the screen larger?

Doing the Alt+Enter procedure doesn't change the screen size per se. Usually I get a 4" x 6" DosBox window inside the larger DosBox Status window. When I do Alt+Enter , the status window disappears and the DosBox one is re-positioned but still 4" x 6". Press Alt+Enter again and the Status window re-appears and the DosBox window re-positioned back to its original location. Is there a way to increase the size of the DosBox window?

That's what scalers are for. DOSBox comes with a load of scaling methods you can use in the configuration file, and there's also the option to set the resolution of the screen it'll be scaling to. The first thing to check though is that your graphics card scaling isn't automatically turning it into that small window, as this has the potential to override whatever DOSBox is doing.
