Hi all,

I used dosbox 0.61 to play games like xwing and privateer under Mandrake 9.2. Had it working perfectly, and, having a quick CPU, I didn't even need frameskip.

I recently installed Mandrake 10.1, and eventually installed dosbox 0.62 from rpm. The sound stuttered abysmally (unless frameskip was cranked up to about 7, at which point sound on longer matters ... ; conf options like blocksize=4096 and prebuffer=30 did no good either). I tried going down to 0.61 (also RPM), then compiling 0.63. No appreciable difference between them.

I'd appreciate any advice. Here are some system details that might help:
Mandrake 10.1 has a 2.6 kernel ; 9.2 had a 2.4
I use KDE ... that means artsd is running
I don't use alsa ; my sound system (in KDE config) is set to autodetect (setting it to alsa doesn't work, setting it to oss is fine)
I have tried with a soundcard (es1371 drivers) and with onboard sound (snd-intel8x0 drivers) ; this made no difference.

Like I said, all comments are welcome.
