after running dosbox for about 10 minutes, my system totally craps out. exiting dosbox doesn't fix the problem. i have plenty of memory free and task manager shows almost no cpu activity. everything goes so slow, it takes about 10 minutes for the clock to increase one minute. what would cause this?

soyo k7v dragon plus motherboard
athlon xp 2000+ cpu
512 mb pc 2100 ram
geforce ti4200 128 mb
windows xp

dosbox 0.63
output=overlay
machine=vga
memsize=128

You must have some serious hardware/software issues.

- Check hardware mananger to see if there are some yellow exclamation marks there.
- Check your system for spyware/malware/viruses
- Update drivers
- Do a chkdsk /f + defrag

Intel i7 5960X
Gigabye GA-X99-Gaming 5
8 GB DDR4 (2100)
8 GB GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (Gigabyte)

I would run Spybot then CCleaner (crap cleaner). Update and run a virus scanner if you have one. Then install all Windows Updates and latest drivers for video, sound, and motherboard. Make sure no programs are running that don't need to be. Then reduce memsize to 32 and try a different output than overlay.

Also make sure you are using an official version of DOSBox from the sourceforge.net page. Also make sure that the version of SDL.dll you use with it is the one that came with it.
