i got it mounted but now i tryed to load the game and it said no dpmi what does this mean

It basically means your program didn't find DPMI, which is nothing to worry about. Download CWSDPMI (google is your friend) and put it into the same directory. Play with it a little, you will manage to get it running with a bit of fiddling around.

ms-dos (and dr-dos, for that matter) emm386 did provide dpmi, didn't it?

I think it's really time to have an official utilities pack for dosbox, including all 3rd-party programs any dosbox user needs somewhen, dos32a, cwsdpmi, perhaps others?

em386 didn't provide dpmi as far as I know.
only vcpi
but i can be wrong on this

I am pretty sure QBix is right. EMM just provided VCPI support. On the other hand, QEMM386 has its own built-in dpmi services program.

The only widespread DPMI providers that I've been aware of are Win9x/ME and CWSDPMI.

I remember Daggerfall was able to use it, so whatever DOS extender it used may have provided it when not already available too.
