Hi All,

I'm trying to run a very old Dos application with DosBox.
I can start the program but when I make a choice in the program I see the message:

Too many files at address 040B:7681

In my old config.sys (old dos-computer) I must write:

FILES=70

But DosBox has default 100 ?!?!
Why see I the error?
Can please anybody help me ??..

Thanks.

without the program itself we are quite clueless unfortunately.

you could try a cvs build to see if we have fixed the bug.
look in the development forum at the CVS builds by aep thread.

Yes, I've try that.
This is my config.sys in the root of the mounted harddisk:

---------------
files=200
buffers=80
---------------

But with the config.sys I see the same error.

I don't get it. If you previosly stated that 100 files handles were too much, why are you specifying 200 now?

You should set...

files=70
buffers=30

I don't think that 100 is to much, but the program must have a minimum of 70 files. Is it wrong to try files=200 ???

I've 2 questions:

1. Can anybody tell me what the error means? " Too many files at address.. "

2. Can I sure that a config.sys in the root of the mounted drive works ???

Thanks.

P.s. sorry, but my english is not good!

OK, I understood you the other way around.

Is the program a clipper program by chance?

Try setting a variable of SET CLIPPER=F150
and specify a FILES=150 setting in config.sys

I have been good success running this type of apps. using VDMSound (Check the forum if you don't know what it is).

These are the settings I used under the Advanced -> DOS Environment of VDMSound shortcut.

FILES=150
FCBS=4

Good luck.
