Hello All,

I've been playing around and thought you guy's may find this amusing. 😁

Linux -> Wine -> DosBox -> FakeNES -> Game
And sound even works in the game!

Has anyone tried to get complicated apps to work in Win 3.11?
I should receive my copy of Win 3.11 tomorrow... I guess ill soon find the outer limits and answer this question on my own.

Cheers,
Tom

I haven't run into troubles on Windows 3.1 yet. The most complicted would be the system benchmark of Norton Utilites, I guess.

Yes Very!

Here is a small update on what ive been at the last hour or so.

1) installed Win 3.11 for workgroups
2) found a way to get my mouse to work 100% !!!!!
3) installed Calmira II version 3.3

Next thing is to rm -rf this install and start over, I didn't go with the S3 driver install this time. And Camira looks rather ugly at 8bit depth.
And I need to look into the sound/joystick/win32s drivers as well....

Here is what I want Win 3.11 to look like tomorrow : http://www.calmira.net/screenshots/chrios.htm .

P.S.

If you want to look at the shots I sent do so now, I plan to remove them as well in a couple days..... No need to over fill the forum server with this Silly, Weird, stuff 😁

twick: I started a guide for Windows 3.1x on Dosbox at Windows 3.1x DOSBox Guide, maybe that helps in choosing/finding the drivers.

Yea, it's a must read for anyone interested in Win 3.1x
I can't post in that forum so ill ask you about a couple things here.

---- Soundblaster

I went to soundblaster.com and got the driver for "Sound Blaster 16"
#3 "Windows 3.1x drivers for the Sound Blaster ISA 16/32/64 cards (634.62 KB)

My question here is:
They list "Sound Blaster 16" as well as "Sound Blaster Wave Effects"
There is also two drivers listed "sbbasic" and "s16dw3up.exe" should there be a suggested to use here? We could test both and say either of these should work..... For a new user they may be a little confused on witch ones they need.

I have Win 3.11 for work groups installed and it list Sound blaster 1.0 and 1.5 should we give a suggestion on witch one to choose from?

Also here is a direct link to there downloads section where you select your Lang.
http://www.soundblaster.com/language.asp?sDes … pport/downloads

--- Win32's
Here is a nice link : http://stephan.win31.de/w32slist.htm

--- a site with downloads,
Here is another one : http://oldfiles.org.uk/lightspeed/main.html

--- graphics drivers,
I tried to install the Graphics drivers after I had already installed Win 3.11 and ran into trouble. This could be because i'm using Wine 😀 But anyway I think its best to select "Manual" install and install the graphics drivers when you install Win. It works allot better that way for me anyhow....

A good read for those with some time to burn!
