One game in particular, actually. Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb. I installed it off the CD-ROM when I got it, and it worked pretty well. Unfortunately, that was about eight years ago, and sometime in between I managed to lose the CD-ROM. I think I can still use the diskettes, though, so that's not a problem.

This is the problem.

When I type "install", it brings up a list of the drives I have mounted, like so:

I've gone through the guides, at least all the ones I could find, and searched the forums a couple of times ('swhere I found most of the guides, heh.) I'm pretty sure this is not supposed to happen. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

The FAT or file entry got corrupted and a repair utility wrote the lost clusters to file0000.chk back in 1998. If you are in luck, the file0000.chk contains the program that was in install.exe before.
