when i want to use the copy con command to edit a new file under dosbox 0.63 i get a "file not found" error

Yeah DOSBox doesn't have that feature (yet?). You can copy EDIT.COM from your c:\windows\system32 directory and use that inside of DOSBox though.

If you're german, search the web for "dct file editor" (fe.zip), it's a really nice little freeware editor weighing just 50k, a little more comfortable than edit.com, but with german texts.
