I'm havin' trouble too.
I'm Using the 0.63 Version of Dosbox, but my sound stutters in every game, from old apogee games to newer adventures.
I tried already everything in the faqs, which means: de-/increasing cpu cycles, shutting down other programs, full-Screen mode, skipping frames and increasing the pre-buffer. i also tried using dynamic CPU core.
The Sound still stutters. Last times i tried different adventures not by LucasArts (Simon the Src.(Ger), Goblins, King's Quest) and also some small old games like apogee games (crystal caves, duke nukem 1 and such).
Maybe it's a hardware problem? I've got on-board-sound, e.g.
