If you want a full x86 emulator, you should look into Bochs or QEMU. I think DOSBox is fine at its current direction, ie. focus on supporting DOS gaming.

No. The DOSBOX was not designed for that. DOSBOX is perfect for its task, but I do not think it would make a good "general" emulator... There are better choices for that.

I use DOSBox for running WordStar 2000. Some of the later changes in Windows have caused WordStar to quit working. With DOSBox, I have my editor back!
