I didn't know where to put this thread.

It must have 640x480 (NOT 640x400)
It must run under dos with dosbox/retroarch
It must run all dooms, heretic and hexen

The most close one that i found is doom legacy but that thing crashes a lot and have bad performance.

Can't say exactly about 640x480, but you can try one of this:

Vavoom: http://download.sf.net/vavoom/vavoom-dos-1.26.zip
MBF: http://iddqd.ru/doom/mbf203.zip
ZDoom: http://iddqd.ru/doom/zdoom117c.zip
DOSDoom: http://iddqd.ru/doom/dosdoom.zip
ReMooD: http://files.iddqd.ru/ports/remood_dos_20110816.zip

Why do you need it to run at 640x480 ? Is this an absolute requirement for your use case or a strong preference ?

I have the same questions about the other stated ctiteria.

My reason for asking is the hope that, if what you are looking for does not (yet) exist, maybe understanding the reasons for your criteria might help someone suggest an alternate solution that could still be satisfactory to you.

To be honest I have similar question, is anyone know Doom port, or other DOS game with 800×480 resolution?

with doom legacy you can upscale it to 800x600 also but it would be slow, that source port is not good optimized, also maybe will crash more

the win9x port can get you 640x480

tried it long ago but it looked different, i don't know why... and there's no windows heretic version, always something is lacking =(

Doom's 3d aspect doesn't adapt well to 640x480 as is and there's the timing disrepancies with common 60hz modes (doom works at 35hz, 35 x2 = 70hz = 320x200/640x400)

I don't know about the aspect size, but I recently used chocolate-doom on Windows 10 x64, and had 100% success with Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and HACX (a doom mod).

For Brutal Doom, I used the gzdoom engine - this works perfectly fine too.

Just checked in gzdoom, there's an option for 640x480, and many others too. There's a whole bunch of different aspect ratios as well.

but that's for windows, the problem is that i'm looking something for dos that work better than doom legacy
