Has anyone used the 8-22-05 beta of Dos32a? I want to use it but i'm afraid of how unstable it is. Has anyone had good luck with it?

Just try it... What can happen? It will not blow your computer...

If it does blow up your computer though, be sure to post some pictures.
Eh..nothing special...nothing to write home about yet. To be honest, i would just stick with the 7.35 for now

Supposedly the latest beta of DOS32A fixes Dark Forces in Dynamic mode. Haven't tried it tho.
I wonder where my Dark Forces CD is. I am quite impressed with how well ST: AFU runs. Before Dos32a, it took forever for anything to work correctly. Now, it runs like a dream. Does anyone know whether it is necessary to use this for ST: Judgement Rites or 25th anniversary?
Also, here is a picture from Sttng for you to look at. Take note of the Dos32a version. Beta 9.0.2
Also, even though it says that -2128 xms is available, the game still runs, anyone know why?

If anyone is interested, here is a screenshot of 9.0.5 that was released recently.
Regarding the negative EMS value: you are probably using close to 64MB memory (probably 63MB, the maximum amount dosbox supports), and the program stores that amount in a short (2-byte) integer. Which is fine, only if you interpret an unsigned short value of 63000 as signed short, it's about -2000. I guess the output routines do that - they simply interpret the number differently.
Well, it's set to use 63mb actually. Nice guess. Also, is it worth setting umb=max? does it give a performance boost over umb=true?
Surely not. It's intended to allow larger TSRs to be loaded
into the UMBs, but requires ems to be off.
I wish DOS games didn't require this stuff. I have a 1.0GB of DDR RAM in my laptop but ST:JR still complains that i don't have 2mb of ems free unless i use dosbox. heehehe

Then it seems you haven't played too many games in the MS-DOS era. Some of them were a real pain to configure. 😀
