I have always been bothered when DOSBox does the following:

First, it always, without exception, double scans any 640x200 text or graphics mode into a 640x400 resolution. This makes the pixels seem stretched and unsquare. While many people used video monitors that did this, more or less, some used LCD panels that did not. Would it be possible to put in an option to allow a "wide" 640x200 mode, something like "Force doublescan=on/off." After all, 320x200 graphics modes are not automatically double-scanned.

Second, the text mode resolutions in Hercules and VGA are wrong. The true resolution should be 720x350 and 720x400, respectively. DOSBox uses 640x350 and 640x400, as if the adapters were EGA or MCGA. In the 720 mode, the video hardware adds an extra pixel column for every text cell. For ASCII characters C0h-DFh, it is a duplication of the pixel value in the eighth pixel column, for all others, it is a blank pixel. Would it be possible to add a "9 Pixel Text Column=on/off"
