I have the "autoexec" section set up thusly:

set path=c:\;c:\Norton\
mount a: c:\emulators\dos\
mount b: f:\ -t cdrom
mount c: c:\emulators\dos\
mount d: d:\games\
mount e: e:\ -t cdrom
mount f: f:\ -t cdrom
mount g: g:\data\
c:
cd Norton
nc.com
cd \
...and unless I remove the path line, Dosbox will always crush when shutting down.
And try
mount a c:\emulators\dos\
instead of
mount a: c:\emulators\dos\
and so on (remove the first : )
the dosbox shell also likes having z:\ in it's shell to actually find the mount program 😀

mount c c:\emulators\dos\

mount e e:\ -t cdrom
mount f f:\ -t cdrom

One remark: Normally A and B letters are reserved for floppy drives.
