So many of the great games of old has some multiplayer functionality, most notably the classic C&C game. I used to play it a lot, on really old hardware, but today, that hardware isn't available. And since DOSBox is a great emulatior, it's not really needed...

Network support however is certainly something one could consider. And is it really that improbable to create a generic IPX compatible network driver for DOSBox? while the DOSBox driver obviously has to expose the functionaly of DOS network drivers, the backend can be anyhing from the old IPX stuff, to more modern IP/UDP/TCP stuff. In my opinion I could definitly see a DOSBox network driver which connects other DOSBox environments through a TCP/IP backend...

Where would you go from here...

try typing ipx=true inside dosbox
and look at the configfile on the various modem and nullmodem emulation options present 😀

It's already been implemented by HAL 9000. Even DosBox IPX to native IPX.

Only thing left to do is implement things he has done that are not in DosBox yet and to implement TCP/IP support into DosBox.
