I hope it will be helpful. I will post a recording of the percussion sounds once I master Adlib's Visual Composer program.

Thanks, maybe you can even figure out some example that sounds different
on your real system (digital capturing would be nice) compared to all of the
adlib emulations in dosbox (.dro capture).

I don't believe I set the volume parameters to maximum in Visual Composer. I will do it again if that would help.

I don't hear much in the way of difference between the rhythm samples Cloud put up between DOSBox's emulation and his analog recording. My digital recording has the samples sounding as if they were at a slightly higher pitch.

Zeliard sounds different though, so that might be interesting to rip down to
the actual problematic parts. How did you trigger the sound, like did you
play the game or used a dro player?
For direct comparison only the latter will be of use to eliminate timing artefacting,
and possibly some way to disable adlib features during dro playback.

I think I should point out that the sampling rate of OPL2 (YM3812) and OPL3 (YMF262) chips is about 49716 Hz, while later chips have 48 kHz output.

I don't know how it is done in the later chips (resampled down to 48kHz or directly generated at 48kHz with F_NUM lookup table) but still the chips may sound different because of the extra processing they have.

I have rerecorded Zeliard using Harekiet's DROPLAY 0.2 and Cloud's zeliard.dro.
