mp3cue patch is already applied to the source. So you have to get rid of it in order to remove SDL_sound dependency. This is diff that you can revert the patch.

patch binary is here.

In your source directory type

patch -up1 < revert.diff

Sorry for resurrecting this thread. I have downloaded patch.exe.
Where should I start patching. in the src folder or the "root" folder
or the dos subfolder? the letter '1' hangs my command prompt.

in the src folder may still need to specify -p or -up depending on the patch
