There is currently an emulator called Flopper that emulates those self-booting diskettes that were popular during the IBM XT days. These games had their own operating system, so to speak. They did not require DOS.

One of the main problems with flopper is that it is a PC DOS-only emulator. Also, it seems dated and has support only for an arbitrary image format. Are there any plans to implement self-booting images in DOSBox? It would seem only appropriate, considering the scope of this project.

I understand that this would affect both the main project tree and front-ends, so this would not be a minor upgrade.

I'd like support for this too.

In fact, I'd like generic drive image support (for floppy OR hard drive OR CD-ROM drive...)

But none of the current coders wants to add this, IIRC.
