Achtung!

Here is a German "localization" for DOSBox v0.61 - it's not just a simple language file, README's included too! Also changed *some* of the looks inside the shell (alarming red replaced by cyan, etc).

If you read German, please do me the favor to download and review it. Comments welcome...

Hi! i saw your localization :] and I would like to contribute to DOSBox making another translation, to my language :] that is Polish. I hope that it will allow DOSBox community to grow, in eastern direction. 😁 :]

So, I have few questions.

First: what's needed to be translated except those 6 txt files? is there anything else to translate?

Second: In your compilation there is "deutch.lng" file, I couden't find "english.lng" or something similar in original version. what is that file, and do you have its english version (I know little bit german, but I can't translate from it 😀

Third: what should I do to "make" polish KEYB file? and what is "GR.KL" file for?

i would be gratefull for any tips :]

hope I didn't say anything stupid :p I'm a newbe as you all see 😁

From the Read Me:

=================== 9. The Config File: =================== […]

===================
9. The Config File:
===================

A config file can be generated by CONFIG.COM, which can be found on the
internal dosbox Z: drive when you start up dosbox. Look in the internal
programs section of the readme for usage of CONFIG.COM.
You can edit the generated configfile to customize DOSBox.

The file is divided into several sections (the names have [] around it).
Some sections have options which you can set.
# and % indicate comment-lines.
The generated configfile contains the current settings. You can alter them and
start DOSBox with the -conf switch to load the file and use these settings.

If no configfile is specified with the -conf switch, DOSBox will look in the
current directory for dosbox.conf. Then it will look for ~/.dosboxrc (Linux),
~\dosbox.conf (Win32) or "~/Library/Preferences/DOSBox Preferences" (MACOSX).

======================
10. The Language File:
======================

A language file can be generated by CONFIG.COM.
Read it and you will hopefully understand how to change it.
Start DOSBox with the -lang switch to use your new language file
or you can setup the filename in the config file in the [dosbox] section.
There's a language= entry that can be changed with the filename.

There is no english.lng file since the English text is built into the program.

Third: what should I do to "make" polish KEYB file? and what is "GR.KL" file for?

Go to http://projects.freedos.net/keyb/ and browse down to the "Downloads" section. There you can get the most recent version of the Keyb binaries (EXE file), but you may also use the one included in my release, I guess.

More important for your needs would be the precompiled keyboard layouts (KL files), which can also be found there. Select the appropriate archive (KPWIN10X.zip?) and save it somewhere on your hard disk. Inside the file you will find lots of keyboard layouts along with two Polish ones (PL.KL/PL214.KL) Don't know which is the right one for a standard polski klawiatury, just try.

Hope you could drag some sense out of my thin words... 😵
